Dual 4K Displays Now Possible on Existing USB 3.0 Ports

The world’s first adapter to provide two additional 4K displays and a gigabit wired network connection over USB 3.0.

It’s now possible to connect not just one but two 4K monitors (total combined resolution 5120×2280!) via your existing USB 3.0 ports.

We recently announced the release of the first USB-C adapters to be based off of the latest DisplayLink DL-6950 chipset and mentioned that a solution for customers with standard USB 3.0 Type-A ports was on the way.

The wait is over and today we are excited to announce the arrival of the Plugable USB 3.0 Dual 4K DisplayPort and HDMI with Gigabit Ethernet adapters, a.k.a. the USB3-6950-DP and USB3-6950-HDMI adapters.

Similar to their recently released USB-C siblings (the USBC-6950-DP and USBC-6950-HDMI), our USB 3.0 Dual Graphics adapter can support two external displays up to 3840×2160@60Hz (4K@60Hz) each as well as a Gigabit Ethernet port to connect your system to a wired network.

DisplayLink’s technology send only the pixels that are changing over the USB bus. This solution can be indistinguishable from a main display for normal web and application use. Motion video and gaming, however, should be done on a main display which is directly connected to the system GPU. We would recommend checking the system requirements on the product pages for the version you’re interested in for best performance results: DisplayPort or HDMI. The adapter is powered completely by the USB port (no extra power adapter or cabling needed). If using a USB hub, make sure it has its own AC power.

This is an Amazing solution that makes the most of the USB 3.0 ports you already have.

Hi Leo, thanks for asking! You don’t mention the model of computer you are using, nor have we tested with these HP monitors, but our Dual 4K adapters may not be the best fit since the HP monitor appears to have DVI and VGA ports. One of our UGA-3000 adapters or our USB3-3900DHE adapters may be a better fit.

With that said, I would expect our Dual 4K adapters to work, but you would need a separate DisplayPort to DVI, DisplayPort to VGA or HDMI to DVI, HDMI to VGA adapters in order for our Dual 4K adapters to work.

Thanks for asking. Our USB3-6950-DP is currently $89.95 and the USB3-6950-HDMI is currently $84.95 on Amazon.
