Introducing the UD-3900H USB 3.0 Dual Monitor Horizontal Docking Station

We’re excited to announce the launch of our latest universal dock, the Plugable UD-3900H Dual Monitor Horizontal Docking Station! The UD-3900H was designed based on customer feedback requests for a horizontally-oriented dock with similar functionality to our acclaimed UD-3900 docking station. Additionally, we’ve given this dock a predominantly matte finish; another common request. It’s a great value for those looking for a horizontal docking station to connect to their Windows laptop or tablet.

Built on the tried-and-tested DisplayLink DL-3900 chipset, the UD-3900H dock offers an HDMI and a DVI port for connecting two external monitors up to 1920×1080 (1080p) resolution, and includes DVI-to-HDMI and DVI-to-VGA passive adapters for maximum display flexibility. And for those who prefer a single higher-resolution display, the UD-3900H supports one 2560×1440 (1440p) HDMI monitor when it’s the only display connected. Additionally, the dock offers 6 USB ports for connecting your favorite peripherals (2x USB 3.0 ports and 4x USB 2.0 ports), a Gigabit Ethernet port, and audio input and output ports on the side of the dock to connect external speakers, headphones or microphone. All through a single USB cable.

The sleek, lay-flat design of the UD-3900H enables flexible placement of the dock for quick, convenient access or a less-visible low-profile installation. The dock includes a USB 3.0 Type-B to Type-A and USB 3.0 Type-B to Type-C cables to accommodate a wide range of systems with legacy USB Type-A ports and the newer USB Type-C port that is increasingly common on new systems. Additionally, the dock includes passive HDMI and VGA adapters mentioned above, and a UL certified 24W (12V/2A) power adapter.

Please be aware that like the UD-3900 dock, the UD-3900H dock will not charge the battery of the host system, so you’ll need to continue to use the charger included by your system manufacturer. And as with our other DisplayLink-based docks and USB graphics adapters, it’s recommended for office/productivity applications and won’t be a good fit for gaming or some applications which require certain graphical acceleration functionality. The dock supports Windows 10, 8.1, 7, and XP systems with an Intel, AMD, or Nvidia graphics processor and WDDM drivers (most modern systems meet these requirements). Please note that Windows RT, macOS, and Linux/Unix are not currently supported.

The UD-3900H is available immediately in the U.S., and availability in Canada, Japan, UK and the EU is expected before the end of the March.
