New Triple HDMI Display Docking Station Turns your Home or Office into the Ultimate Workspace

Plugable is excited to announce the launch of our newest USB-C docking station, the Plugable USB-C Triple HDMI Docking Station with 60W Charging. This docking station integrates DisplayLink USB Graphics Technology in combination with cutting-edge USB-C features to connect up to three external displays, six USB devices, network, audio, along with charging capability to compatible USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 Windows 10 systems — all through a single cable.

Our new UD-3900PDZ docking station builds upon the technologies first introduced with Plugable’s UD-ULTCDL Triple Display Docking Station, applying direct user feedback, and leveraging new advancements in USB-C technology. This docking station’s lay-flat design fits under a monitor or other tight spaces on the desktop, and provides two front facing USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5mm headset port (combined microphone/headphone, 4 conductor TRRS jack) for ease of access. Four rear-facing USB 3.0 ports provide connectivity to external hard drives, printers, scanners, or any USB 2.0 or 3.0 devices that you would normally leave connected to the computer. The docking station also provides a gigabit Ethernet port, three HDMI outputs, and is capable of providing up to 60W of USB Power Delivery to charge the connected computer.

This dock provides the ability to connect up to three HDMI displays in extended mode. One output is directly controlled by the computer’s internal graphics processor using the “DisplayPort Alternate Mode Over USB Type-C” specification (“Alt Mode” or “DP Alt Mode”), which is then converted internally to HDMI for maximum flexibility. This connection operates at full native performance and supports resolutions up to 4K UHD (3840×2160 at 30Hz refresh rate) and 1920×1080 monitors (“1080P”) at 60Hz. The second and third HDMI ports are controlled by the DisplayLink USB Graphics Technology and support independent displays at 1920×1080 resolution.

Please note that USB-C Power Delivery charging and “Alt Mode” technologies in this docking station rely on the computer supporting these features. Unfortunately some USB-C ports are “data only” and do not support these technologies. Thunderbolt 3-enabled USB-C ports typically do support these features, and your system manufacturer’s specifications may provide additional information. Sometimes even laptop manufacturers don’t do a great job of documenting these features, so please feel free to check out our product page for additional details and contact our support  team support@plugable.com with any questions and we’ll be happy to help with compatibility questions.

The UD-3900PDZ is available today in North America on Amazon, NewEgg, Walmart, and ebay. And as a special thank you to our blog subscribers, we’re offering a limited time $10 launch discount on Amazon.com, simply clip the coupon before purchase and it will be applied during check-out.

Thanks for asking! We actually have a triple HDMI/DisplayPort combination docking station, very similar to this UD-3900PDZ, in development! This docking station will provide three HDMI/DisplayPort combination ports for supporting up to three 4K displays using a combination of USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode and DisplayLink USB Graphics technology.

We will be making a similar product announcement when we have this Triple 4K HDMI/DisplayPort docking station ready to release, and updates will be posted on our Plugable home page.

      Thank you!

Hi There! I have a Dell that has USB 3.0 port not USB-C, using an adaptor will be ok in order to connect then to 3 HDMI Monitors?

      Hi Omar,

Thank you for asking, I am sorry, this docking station requires a computer with native USB-C ports that supports USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode, this is a direct connection from the computer’s graphics card to the USB-C port that is not available for Standard USB 3.0 Type-A ports. Using an adapter the docking station will only support the two DisplayLink outputs and the computer will not be capable of charging from the docking station either.

Please feel free to contact our support team directly at ‘support@plugable.com’ and our support team will be happy to help find the best docking station to match your Dell laptop.

I am sorry this docking station will not be 100% compatible with this Dell laptop.

We are hoping to release this docking station through Amazon in Europe within the next few months, however we do not have a set date. I’m looking to get the new macbook pro and run 4 displays on my wall. Would there be any solution to do this, such as running a HDMI split adapter in a addition to the UD-3900PDZ.

    Thanks in advanced

Thank you for asking, I am sorry, we normally do not recommend our USB docking stations with DisplayLink Graphics Technology for use with Apple Mac systems. For supporting four displays on a 16-inch MacBook Pro one option is two Thunderbolt 3 Dual Display Graphics Adapters, alternatively a Thunderbolt 3 docking station and a single Thunderbolt 3 Dual Display Graphics Adapter. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is only capable of supporting two external displays.

Please contact our support team at ‘support@plugable.com’ for additional details and assistance.

      Thank you,

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 15.4″ (it has 4 thunderbolt3/USBC plugs). I’m looking to hook up 3 external HDMI monitors, while replacing my MacBook screen (having it closed). Will this work?

    Hi there,
    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
Graphics is of Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB

Would this docking station allow me to connect 3 external monitors via HDMI?

If not, is there a product that might?

    Thanks

I have a Dell Lattitude 7490 which has USB-C Alt mode and connected to WD19. It works well except when I try to use 3 external monitors, only 1 has lower resolution which may be from hardware limitation. I purchased the Pluggable UD-3900PDZ and tried it with my Lattitude 7490. Only 1 HDMI port (alt mode) works. The other two HDMI port doesn’t work at all. Defective unit or did I do something wrong? I did get a replacement and hoping that will resolve it. Also, what laptop is that in the Demo video?

      Hi Mika,

Thanks for contacting us, I am sorry this is not working as expected. Based on your description the computer most likely needs to have the DisplayLink software installed to detect the 2nd and 3rd displays. I have sent the full installation instructions directly to your email. If you did not receive an email please feel free to contact our support team at ‘support@plugable.com’ and we will be happy to provide further assistance.

      Thank you!
