Plugable's flagship DisplayLink docking station is getting a big upgrade. The Plugable USB-C Triple 4K Display Docking Station (UD-ULTC4K) was redesigned from the ground up based on five years of collected user feedback. Perhaps the biggest change you’ll notice is how you connect your monitors.

Originally a mix of DisplayPort (2x) and HDMI (1x), the new design features 3x DisplayPort ports, and 3x HDMI ports. Now you can standardize on one or use a mix of both. And of course, whichever you choose—HDMI or DisplayPort—you’ll get resolutions up to 4K @ 60Hz on your three monitors. All through a single 10Gbps USB-C connection to host.

But monitor ports weren’t the only thing to get a boost. Originally offering 60W charging, the UD-ULTC4K now comes with 100W charging to better accommodate larger laptops (and safely charges lower-wattage systems too. Learn more about USB Power Delivery). And with the addition of a front-facing USB-C port with 10Gbps data transfer and 20W charging for your phone or other devices—the new UD-ULTC4K has plenty of upgrades to power your productivity.

You Gotta Look at the Bigger Picture

Compatible with Windows 11, Windows 10, and macOS 11+ systems with Thunderbolt 4 / 3, USB4, and USB-C, the UD-ULTC4K is packed with a plethora of ports to accommodate your monitor setup. Connect three HDMI monitors, three DisplayPort monitors, or a mix of both—no dongles required.

On host computers that support DisplayPort 1.4, you can expect resolutions up to 4K @ 60Hz for a crisp picture and smooth video. On host computers that support DisplayPort 1.2, get resolutions up to 4K @ 60Hz on two screens, and 4K @ 30Hz on the third screen.

And if your laptop only supports one monitor? By tapping into the potential provided by DisplayLink Technology, the dock does the heavy lifting. That means you’ll get 4K resolution on all three screens no matter what USB-C enabled laptop you’re using—even a first-generation M1 Mac. And while testing is needed to confirm, we expect similar results when paired with M2-powered Macs.

Just a heads up, you will need to download the DisplayLink Manager application to get full functionality for macOS devices. On Windows machines, the driver update is automatic.

UD-ULTC4K Port Callout

Power Delivered

Power Delivery—charging your laptop through a USB-C port—can get confusing. How much power is enough? How much is too much?

The UD-ULTC4K has you covered. Boosted from 60W charging in the original model, the new 100W charging capability (96W certified) gives you enough power to charge just about any laptop—even under a heavy workload. And if your laptop needs less power, the dock communicates with your computer to negotiate the perfect charge level.

Ports a Plenty

In addition to the 100W charging to power your laptop—so you can leave the charger that came with it in your travel bag—the UD-ULTC4K has a front-facing USB-C port for 10Gpbs data transfer and 20W charging to accommodate your phone or other devices.

Speaking of peripherals, the UD-ULTC4K also has 4x USB 3.0 ports for 5Gbps data transfer rates, an SD Card Reader, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and separate audio in and audio out ports.
