The Apple M3 14-inch and 16-inch Macbook Pro and the Plugable Products Tested To Improve Your Workflow
Product Owners | November 17, 2023
Apple has released new Macbook Pro models featuring their new M3 family of chips: M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. This time around Apple brought the base Apple Silicon M3 chip to the 14-inch Macbook Pro with a slightly different port configuration of 2 Thunderbolt 3/USB4 ports, HDMI 2.1, Magsafe, and SDXC card reader along with support for 1 external display. Similar to previous years, the M3 Pro and M3 Max return to both the 14” and 16” Macbook Pro featuring 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.1, Magsafe, and SDCX card reader. A Macbook Pro with the M3 Pro chip can support up to 2 external displays and a Macbook Pro with the M3 Max chip can support up to 4 external displays.
Here at Plugable, we have several products to expand the capabilities of your Macbook with Thunderbolt docking stations, USB-C hubs, and more. Our newest Thunderbolt dock, the TBT4-UDX1, for instance, can turn a single Thunderbolt 4 connection on your M3 Macbook Pro into 11 ports featuring Thunderbolt 4 pass-through ports, and connectivity for 2x HDMI 4K displays. The Plugable flagship dock, the TBT4-UDZ, features flexible display connectivity for either HDMI or DisplayPort for x4 4K displays, with 2 Extended and 2 Mirrored. Perfect for all your productivity needs.
Intelligent charging is here to power your Macbook Pro and other devices at the optimal charging rates automatically. Our PS-EPR-140C1 Power Adapter is a compact charger that uses GaN technology and it’s 14% smaller than the Apple equivalent charger at a better value.
The 2023 16” Macbook Pro has been upgraded to fast charge at 140 watts with USB-C without the need to use Magsafe! Curious to see how fast your Macbook Pro charges? Our USBC-METER3-1MF has a built-in power meter to give you real-time monitoring of your charging speeds.
The following products have been tested in our Redmond lab to assure compatibility with your new M3 MacBook Pro.
